Why my method works

My method grew out of many years of study with masters from two worlds. The first are bearers of tradition — musicians who received rhythm from their teachers’ hands and carry it on in a living, oral form. The second are leading world fusion musicians who reworked the technique and rhythms of traditional schools and created styles of their own. I studied with both — in Turkey, India, Israel, the USA, Central Asia, Persia, Africa and Europe.

For years I took these approaches apart, connected them, turned a living tradition into a clear system, and added my own exercises, ideas and methods. That is how I created my own unique methodology, grounded in millennia-old traditions and modern knowledge.

It is built to be easy to learn from scratch. Rhythm trains more than the hands — it develops coordination, attention, memory and speed of perception, and teaches you to hear and feel time.

The second source is psychology and clinical practice. I am trained in educational psychology. For many years I worked as a music therapist: in private practice and in a clinic with people with developmental differences. This was not relaxation to singing bowls, but structured work through rhythm — with the body, attention, speech and behaviour, each session built around a specific person and their goals. That experience taught me to notice tension in the body and hands, a student’s temperament and whatever keeps them from opening up on the instrument. The approach works at any level — from an adult’s very first lessons to polishing a professional musician’s technique.

Musical technique is the tip of the iceberg. Beneath it lie tradition, a system and attention to the person.
